New Year's Eve

Last year for New Year's we drove up to Denver for the day and went to the museum all day then had dinner at the Spaghetti Factory then walked around the 16th street mall and tried to make as late of a night as we could with all the kiddos. It was a fun experience... once. We did enjoy everything we did except that it was a very long day being out, it was fa-reezing cold and a little scary at the 16th street mall these days. So... we wanted to find a new tradition and came up with an all nighter movie night! We decided on Star Wars as the kiddos have been getting into it pretty recently but went on a scramble to find all the movies without buying them brand new... we didn't get them all right away but started watching somewhat out of order but still good enough for a starter. So we rearranged the living room, got in PJs, popped some popcorn and got this all nighter started!
Amelia made a list of all the things they needed to pack and prepare for the night ; ) and then she photocopied it for all the kids to check off on their own haha!
This was something I saw on Pinterest and wanted to adapt into our tradition... making pizzas shaped for the upcoming year! We all like different types of pizza anyways so this may become somewhat of a regular dish in our rotation as well. There was a recipe for garlic bread and cinnamon sticks and one of my favorites is antipasto salad... yummy!
Pizza in hand and movie in progress... see Benny and me in the back!

I put Benny to bed around 10 PM. Jo and I fell asleep on the couch shortly after but daddy, Amelia, Joshua and Lydia all made it to midnight! I woke up for a quick toast and then me and Jo headed back to bed ; ) It turned out to be the perfect dose of fun for the whole family without stressing and exhausting anyone out ; )

Happy New Year!
