We started a new tradition for us that is an extension of a long tradition from Adam's family of chopping down our own Christmas tree. We weren't sure if this would be the last and only Christmas in a house with such high vaulted ceilings so we decided to go for a ginormous tree. We got our permit and headed out Sunday after Thanksgiving weekend to pick out our tree!
Waiting for the picking...
... playing in the snow
We brought that good ol snowboard to use as a sled down the hill
Snow angels : ) pretty good!
I love being a marshmallow!
Tank always on the lookout and loving the snowy weather!
There she is!
The first cut!
Timber!
All hands on board to get it to the car
Griswold Family Christmas : )
And beyond this point we didn't really think anything else through... halfway home I realized we didn't have a tree stand! I called Costco, Sams, Wal Mart, Home Depot... and finally thought maybe we should just check the thrift stores before we spend $40+ on a stand big enough for this tree... well, we stopped on our way home with the tree on the roof and got a huge perfect working stand for $4!!!!
Adam was able to somewhat tie up the tree using a tarp and brought it in through the backyard door...
We had to do quite a bit of arranging before we finally decided on it living here
Everyone helping to decorate!
It's always exciting to use his inventions!
The view from above...
We're pleased with the finished product!
I love Christmastime and the soft glow of Christmas lights all throughout the house!
We also worked on some Operation Shoe boxes so here are the kiddos papers that went into the boxes... they did a great job!
