Meema and Allen's Trip

A little over a month ago my mom and her boyfriend Allen came out to Colorado for a visit. It was so fun to show them the sights of Colorado Springs and South Fork area!
We made a tour to the Air Force Academy... Joshie looked like a mini-cadet in his blue!
We by fluke made it in time for their formation ceremony so we got to watch that... you can see out to the right of the picture small white and blue dots... those are the cadets in formation
Joshie had to admire himself in the mirror to see how fitting he was to be a cadet
We journeyed to Garden of the Gods
Here's the view of Pikes Peak from the garden
 Joshie checking things out
Amelia as well... this lady was taking a picture of a deer and Amelia was trying to get a better view!
I miss the Garden of the Gods... it's so beautiful!
Allen and Millie just relaxing on the rocks
Joshie wanted a little better view of the top
Cute girl!
We also made a trip to the top of Pikes Peak (14,110 feet) via the Cog Railroad. I have only done this one another time when Adam proposed to me at the top! You can read our proposal story here
It's always a little unnerving to see the edge of the mountain and the drop off so close to your window!
But the views are worth it!
We safely landed at the summit of the peak
 A view from the top
When we got to the top it started raining and got extremely windy... none of us were prepared!
We also went to a little town near South Fork called Creede. This is actually where they had part of the filming for the Lone Ranger. We drove to the area they did the filming so study these pictures as you may see them in the theatre with Johnny Depp in the background! It is an old mining area so this contraption had something to do with the miners.
That used to be a railroad track but now it's all broken and falling to pieces... kinda scary looking up close
The town of Creede is really cute and is literally built in the mountains so that is your backdrop to the whole town... it almost looks fake you are so close
We did a short little hike in South Fork at the Million Reservoir. It was really pretty although the fire they had about 10 years has still left this part of the forest a little barren.
Meema and Allen at the reservoir
And we took a day and drove to Pagosa Springs. If you've read this blog for any time now you may remember our reference to the famous Malt Shoppe! Here is a view halfway down the peak of Wolf Creek Pass (Colorado's ski area that gets the most snow in the whole state!)
Joshie decided to take a rest!
He truly looks like a little man-o in his collared shirt and khaki shorts!

 Kiddos
We did some sightseeing in Pagosa Springs and Adam and Millie took a dip in the hot springs
This is a great picture of the entrance to Adam's golf course
We went out for a late night 9 holes... here's everyone cruising the green (and that's our new house in the background... haha! wouldn't that be amazing!)
Joshie getting used to the feel of the club!
Amelia raking the bunker... we're teaching her golf etiquette early!
The kiddos had a great time with Meema and Allen!
Thanks for the Air Force shirt meema!
